Earlier this year, Dr. Jude Bergkamp delivered a featured presentation at the 50th Annual National Council of Schools and Programs of Professional Psychology. Drawing on five years of collaborative work with the American Psychological Association\u2019s Task Force on Doctoral Competencies in Health Service Psychology, Dr. Bergkamp presented on a groundbreaking competency training model now published in Training and Education in Professional Psychology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Competency models are critical for defining the scope of health service psychology and distinguishing between tiers of practice at both the master\u2019s and doctoral levels. Dr. Bergkamp\u2019s session detailed the new model\u2019s unique features, including its simultaneous process framework and the iterative nature of its competency domain areas. After presenting an overview of the model, Dr. Bergkamp facilitated an engaging discussion on how to implement and tailor these competencies in professional psychology programs, encouraging attendees to reflect on adapting the framework to their own training environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
