Classism in the U.S. Education System: Gatekeeping a Quality K-12 Education

From the 2021 cohort, I am a 25-year-old, able-bodied, cisgender, heterosexual, Hispanic female. I am U.S. born, raised in middle class, raised catholic, and I do not belong to an indigenous heritage. One of my first jobs was working as a Behavior Therapist in schools, so I would often visit different schools. I noticed a wide variety of school conditions anywhere from basic supplies such as books to opportunities like college level preparation courses. Personally witnessing the difference in schooling and teachers is what sparked my interest into researching more into the unjust system that a lot of parents are trusting to educate their children.
