Shirley Lo
Author
Shirley Lo is a member of the 2021 cohort in the Psy.D Clinical Psychology program at Antioch University Seattle (AUS). As a Hong Kong Chinese raised in a lower social class environment with the influence of Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism growing up, her journey of learning about her own social location through the social justice class series has been fascinating. At the time of writing her ISMS paper, she was in her early 40s with no disabilities. She also identified as a heterosexual cis-gendered female with no indigenous heritage as defined in the United States. She chose this topic for her paper because of her interest in therapist development of professional identity. The process opened her eyes through the awareness of her female identity in the psychology profession making the writing process very rewarding.
