We are so excited about our upcoming social justice symposium. Please make sure you register and make plans to attend this free online event.
We will have some wonderful presentations, one of which will be Decoloniality in the Study and Practice of Psychology: A Faculty-Student Collaboration, Presenters: Jack Krizizke and Cynthia Scheiderer. Drawing on scholarship and action conducted in the Decoloniality and Social Privilege Awareness Initiative at Antioch University Seattle within the PsyD Program. This session will provide an overview of decoloniality in the study of psychology. The benefits of decoloniality, as well as common barriers to engaging others in this work, will be addressed.
Participants will be able to conceptualize and define coloniality and decoloniality, identify the benefits and risks of decoloniality, and explore strategies for bringing the pursuit of decoloniality to their study and practice of psychology. We will conclude with examples of research in progress and suggestions of areas where further research is needed.
